1. Before you pack

  • Inspect each Big Day Box to make sure it opens and closes properly.

  • If you notice any serious damage, set that box aside and let us know.

  • Place boxes on a clean, dry surface before loading them.

Reusable plastic moving boxes are designed to handle heavier weight than typical cardboard and to be reused many times, so a quick visual check is usually enough before packing.

2. Packing your Big Day Boxes

  • Distribute weight evenly. Avoid making any single box so heavy that it’s hard to lift.

  • Keep heavier items on the bottom and lighter items on top inside each box.

  • Use towels, linens, or padding around fragile items to prevent shifting and damage.

  • Close the lid fully before stacking or moving the box.

Plastic moving bins don’t need taping or flap folding, but they still benefit from good weight distribution and padding inside.

3. Labeling and organizing

  • Use labels on the outside of each box to mark the room or destination (e.g., “Kitchen,” “Bedroom,” “Office”).

  • If you have multiple boxes for one room, add a quick note like “Kitchen – pantry” or “Bedroom – clothes.”

  • Stack boxes from heaviest on the bottom to lightest on top when loading for the move.

Labeling by room and type makes unloading and unpacking faster and helps anyone helping you place boxes in the right spots.

4. During your move

  • Lift with your legs, not your back, and ask for help with heavier boxes.

  • Avoid dragging boxes on rough surfaces to protect the plastic.

  • Do not store boxes in standing water or leave them outside in severe weather for long periods.

These basic care steps help keep reusable plastic boxes in good condition for future moves.

5. Unpacking

  • Unpack boxes at your own pace, but try not to leave them loaded for long periods in damp or humid areas.

  • Once a box is empty, stack it neatly in a dry, accessible spot.

  • Check that you haven’t left any small items in corners or under the lid.

Stacking empty boxes in one location makes your return trip simpler and prevents lost items.

6. Return instructions

  • When your move is complete and boxes are empty, bring them back to the designated pickup location listed in your rental details.

  • Make sure boxes are free of trash, liquids, or loose packing materials.

  • Report any boxes that are significantly damaged so we can replace them.

7. Care and what not to do

To help keep Big Day Boxes in circulation:

  • Do not use boxes to store chemicals, paint, gasoline, or other hazardous materials.

  • Avoid cutting or drilling into the boxes.

  • Do not write directly on the plastic with anything permanent that might damage or stain the box.

  • Do not use boxes as step-stools or ladders.

Following these care guidelines helps reusable plastic crates stay clean and structurally sound over many rentals.
